Am I reading these correctly in that games will be played at Miami/Dayton and Thomas More College? If that is correct, and I am just assuming that it is, aren't these locations an hour a part from one another (50-60 miles)? What other fields are being utilized during the events and why would we, who may be interested from out of town, drive several hours to drive several hours back forth from each game? How was the scout attendance at these events last summer?
Sti6Ball,

Yes you are reading it correctly, however we will schedule teams so that they play their games in close proximity on any one day, so that there will not be long distances between games. Our goal is to use top-quality facilities, including NCAA Division 1 fields like Miami and Dayton, and unfortunately universities usually aren't right next door to each other. So we're securing these kinds of places and then scheduling other quality fields around them. As far as scouts, we'll be notifying all schools within a several-hour radius of Southwest Ohio and staying in contact with them as the tournaments draw closer. This is the first year for this organization, but we did host tournaments while coaching a travel team the last decade and did have some have scout attendance at those events.
We will still be forced to wake up one day and put in another hour when it is our turn to go to the other location though. And we would need to do that on a number of occasions if we play at the far field more than one time. We noticed another organization that we have attended events with hosts at your feature fields as well and we will work something out with them and see how things go with you guys since this is your first year. They use the same fields on several occasions with amazing secondary fields the past couple of years and I am not a big fan of all the driving it appears our parents or players would be doing with this set up. Wish you guys the best though.
Actually, from where the hotels are clustered, you would likely have 30 minutes or less in any direction on any given day, depending on which hotel you opted to stay in. All big, quality tournaments have some driving involved, including the other organization I believe you're speaking of. I know since I've been a participant in the past and did a decent amount of driving. We have teams committed from a couple states including New York at this point. With the top-notch facilities involved and a five-game guarantee for $800 with no gate fee, we feel very good about the quality and value of our event. Good luck to your teams in 2010.
Midwest Team Tournaments 14U-18U events in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky are attracting commitments and inquiries from numerous states. All five-game guarantees ($800 for 16U and 18U, $750 for 15U, $700 for 14U) with no gate fees at some of the top facilities in the Midwest: NCAA Division I stadiums at the University of Dayton and Miami University, NCAA Division III complex at Thomas More College, plus some of the best HS fields in Ohio (Badin's Alumni Field and Lakota West's Firebird Field). More fields being added. The combination of price, game guarantee, top-flight fields and scheduling flexibility is hard to beat. New baseballs provided for each game, and out-of-town teams can start on Friday if they wish. Dates are as follows (all age groups are separate events):

JUNE 10-13
Midwest Challenge
14U, 16U, 18U

JUNE 24-27
Midwest Showdown
15U, 16U

JULY 1-4
Midwest Classic

Yes, 14U, 16U and 18U will have games at Dayton and Miami. The first 12 teams paid in full are guaranteed two games at either Miami or Dayton (maybe two at one place, maybe one and one) in pool play. The next 18 teams are guaranteed a game at one or the other. 18U and 16U championship rounds on Sunday will be at Miami and UD, 14U championship round on Sunday will be at Thomas More or Badin High School's Alumni Field.
