I noticed a lot of other state/regional forums already have these so I figured why not have one for the players from the northeast right now. If you know of any player commitments from the NE for the HS class of 2011 post 'em here.

Also was wondering, kinda related topic - how is BC doing after losing its HC? Are a bunch of their recruits looking elsewhere now or is there situation okay?

Coach Gambino is a class guy and he'll do a very good job recruiting at BC.

Coach Mason from Northeastern has left for VT and again, Pat was a very good recruiter.

I base my thoughts and feelings about coaches recruiting on who, how and when these coaches contact us summer coaches about our players. I get many emails early in the year asking about my rosters. I will then get a second round mid-summer and anotther as we approach the fall. In return, I constantly update them on players. There are other schools who act as if we're not there and approach our players without ever contacting us. These guys get crossed off my information list.

Here's a couple of the committments from guys that have played with us.

Scott Hagan OF from NY to Binghamton U
Dane McDermott MIF from NJ to High Point U
Fabio Ricci OF from NY to Newberry College
Joey Maher RHP from NH to Northeastern U

BTW, putting together our roster for Jupiter and taking recomendations for players
Shawn
you mention that it will give some players from remote locations the opportunity to get noticed this fall. By whom? You haven't mentioned who is attending any of the games from a recruiting stand point?

Jeff posts about the local committments to Maine and thats great since the thread was about 2011 College Committments.

There are 30 other threads started that deal with the fall showcase league
A few more of the boys will be signing tomorrow:

Rob Alonso will sign with Dominican College
Jake Matranga will sign with Concordia College
Cristian Fiorito will sign with Concordia College
Brett Miller will sign with High Point University

That brings our class to 9 for the time being. May have another 1 or 2 over the next few days.

List is off the PG site. I removed the one d3 player from the list and changed the wording to read "a partial list of committed players as reported by PG" to reflect what and where the list came from.

Thanks for pointing this out.

A text from Mike Campo reminded me that I neglected to note my son's commitment (Christian Ferlan, Bishop Guertin, Nashua, NH). Christian will be playing baseball for Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA for the next 4 years. They are a DIII school in the Centennial Conference (Johns Hopkins is probably the most nationally recognized school in the conference). It was a very "interesting" process. He had a few other schools interested, but chose somewhere he felt was "far enough" away from home, academically challenging, and where he could make an impact sooner.

M'berg grad here, congratulations!

Wow! I forget sometimes this is a *northeast* and not just NH board (even though sometimes it feels like more NH/NY are posting). People ask "how" we found Muhlenberg and why not something closer to home. First you have to realize you're not being recruited or it's not in the cards to play D1 baseball (be realistic, if you're a junior now and you haven't been contacted, guess what). We started by looking at college websites and eventually ended up at http://www.d3baseball.com/. From there it was a process of finding areas you'd like to play in and/or schools that fit your academic dreams/needs. After that it's up to you to contact those schools, send video, visit, and once you find a few that match - attend their camp or find out which ones they're attending. Consider what the larger camps are - meat markets where D2/D3 coaches go to watch specific players on their radar. How do you think a player got on their radar? Yes, you can "get discovered" at one of those events, but you have to stand out. Christian did get interest from St. Michael's in VT based on a Top96 event, but it wasn't a "we really want you" type interest - it was "it would be nice to have you". He went to a Muhlenberg "camp" the same weekend the Showcase League was at URI and after playing HS Football on Sat. night. After that camp, the coach asked him to come back for a visit and the rest is history. We used the opportunity to also visit Dickinson, but in the end Coach Goff put on the we really want you full court press. Christian also garnered interest from a number of the D3 schools that attend NH Showcase Events; however, those that called didn't interest him. He knew he wouldn't be recruited by URI nor did FPU, SNHU, or UML show any interest. Fortunately for him, even though he was effective in the Showcase League - he learned pretty quick where he'd fit in based and focused his attention at that level. At the very least, his Showcase League experience proved to him that he could compete with "that level" of player even though he didn't throw in the high 80's/low 90's. Sometimes it's a matter of being a pitcher, throwing strikes, changing speeds, picking your spots, and keeping your defense on their toes. A low ERA and WHIP were things he's more proud of than number of strikeouts.

Anyway, Christian is very excited with his choice - his personality should fit it well with the mascot too! As parents we're excited that we now have an excuse for the next 4 years to head to FL for a week. I'll also finally get to see the other Holman Stadium in Vero Beach. Could be tough to see him play during the season, but we'll sure try. It's only a short 6-7 hour car ride.
Agree totally about Billy, great family too. His Dad, Dave, coached all my boys in LL/CR as well as my oldest son's travel baseball team. Billy ended up playing hockey in college at Stonehill. Right now I think he's working at Fidelity in Merrimack - I haven't talked with Dave for a bit since his youngest and my oldest are now off at college.

Great strategy. I did exactly the same thing with my older son who ended up at Kenyon College several years ago. The video was key as was the fact that he had attended one PG showcase and the coach was able to call PG up and see what they thought of him.
