This is a great book, written by Buzz Bissenger, author of Friday Night Lights.

Buzz brings the revelatory intimacy of the game of baseball through the eyes of Tony Russa, as he manages the Cards in a 3 game Series with the Cubs in the 2002 season.

"With the help and records of Dave Duncan, his trusted and valuable coach and friend, they track the opposing batters. 6,100 ab per year.

"Cardinal pitchers threw 1st pitch strikes 59% of the time. Of this number 17% were placed in play and the actual yield of hits resulted in a BA of .059".

Parents, players and coaches will understand the "game" with a new perspective after reading this book.It is 5 stars.

Please read and share.
