Looking for some suggestions or thoughts. How important is finding a true 4 seam grip when a catcher throws to a base? Finding the actual 4 seam takes a tick longer, but the throw is better. I've tried it on the watch and the time is usually about the same as just grabbing and throwing. Just wondering what others are doing.

My sons coach who caught at Big 12 school and played in the minors for several years has him practice it whenever playing catch. Ball in glove and grab 4 seamer before you throw.
In game he describes it as a desire but ball has to come out regardless of grip. Can't wait extra time to get it at that point.
I do it without thinking. It is natural for me. Practice it every time you play catch.
