Happy New Year everyone!

I guess it's time for some pre season discussions  and possible predictions

Conference 22 appears to be very wide open this year.

Eastern View - 2014 champs last year.  They will be very good again this year.  AJ Stead (Shepherd Univ) returns.

David Laird was solid last year.  they have holes to fill but they are a well coached squad.

King George - If memory serves they lost a bunch of starters..Lane Ward (Norfolk St.)  they are always a good hitting team!  my guess is that they re load....they will just be younger for sure.

Fauquier - With Charlie Simmons gone, they will probably look to Ryan Sympson (Shepherd Univ) as their ace.  They have some good returning players (Crosen, Ty Pavlock, and Chandler Kezele in particular)  if they jell early, they could be good.

Courtland - They had a very good lefty last year...not sure if he graduated?

Chancellor -  Even though Jason Morgan graduated, they have a good group of Juniors ( P - Riser, MIF/P - Fowler and Jason's younger brother Matthew)

Liberty - They had a rough year in 2014 and they lost Logan Aylor (CNU).  They may have the biggest and strongest line up in the conference with the likes of seniors Michel Wigglesworth (DH), Tyler Fetheroff (Catch), Alex Crofford (P/1B) and Potomac State commit Brock Smith (3B/P),  Ryan Fogle and Bailey Russell look to add to the pitching depth as well. I do know LHS has a brutal non conference schedule as they play Loudoun Valley twice!

It always comes down to what team handle's tough situations the best, who continues to get better as the year goes along, and how does your pitching hold up!  Can't wait to see some good baseball this spring....

King George lost more than just a few starters.  Of the 15 or so on the roster, 11 were seniors.  Of the three returners, only one was a starter.  A rebuilding year for sure.  I don't see KG contending for a playoff spot.

This is the last year (again) conference 22 will be together.  Conference 22 will be John Champe, Liberty, Kettle Run, Fauquier and Freedom of south riding.  While Conference 19 will be Caroline, Chancellor, Courtland, Eastern View, King George and Louisa.  So it should be interesting to see how this current conference 22 will end.

Last year EV beat Chanc in the tournament championship, the top 4 in the tourney championship EV, Fauq, Chanc, KG.

Here is my take

Courtland: the LHP/OF Teeple, is a returner that should anchor them offensively and on the bump, but they were younger last year and should be much improved..

Fauquier: has alot returning led by Simpson who will also lead on the mound , i think they should be one of the top 3 teams.

Chancellor: has alot returning from last year led by Riser in the field and on the mound, we will see how they respond to the new coach, but should be one of the top 3 teams.

Eastern View: has all three starting pitchers returning (stead, laird, pittman), plus some decent bats but will be young in some key spots, but pitching and the key bats should hold them to be one of the top 3 teams

King George: will be led by Berry returning to the mound and will be young but will always be competitive and it might be a rebuilding year but they are not to be overlooked.

Liberty: return some very good bats led by Smith, but not sure how good they will be on the mound, they should be competitive.

I think it will be between Chanc, Fauq and EV.  But i do not think there will be any weak games in the conference and most of the teams should do well out of conference.  But it should be a good season to watch, there is always a surprise.
