Yes, Forney had an opportunity to win. A HR by Harrison on a terrible pitch call with a 1/2 count put Waxahachie in the lead. Forney had runners on in the 6th and the runner on 3rd did not attempt to score on a passed ball which he could have done and tied the score. Very good game.

Any details from Wax vs Forney? Wax and Cain win 3-2 but Forney has 5 errors. Did Forney almost win this game?
Heath woops up on Centennial again, 11-1 and advances, congratulations, they deserve it. All should be proud of the accomplishment except I'm sure the parents of the moron who insisted on screaming inappropriate comments at the Centennial Players showing a total lack of class that will forever tarnish the year that Heath had. Next time, bring a drum!
I answered my own question:
Stephenville 4, Western Hills 0

(Stephenville Empire-Tribune report on game 2)Stephenville's bats roared to life and Garrett Autrey pitched a gem in a 6-0 game two shutout to complete the sweep in front of a James T. Young Baseball Field record crowd of more than 400 Friday night.

Autrey surrendered only two hits. He struck out three, walked three and hit one batter with a pitch on a controversial call. Western Hills never advanced a runner past second base.

"My fast ball didn't have quite as much velocity on it as it usually does, but my curve ball saved me," said Autrey who is 4-0 on the year to go with four saves. Two of his three strikeouts came on sharp-breaking curves that left Cougar hitters off balance and flailing.

I love it when great kids experience great success.

I saw Centennial play a few games this year and maybe it was time form someone to give Centennial a little piece of there own medicine. Is bringing a band to the games with noise makers and banging them during their opponents at bats appropriate? I agree with Aloysius that if the Heath kid was screaming inappropriate comments that is wrong, but at the same time maybe someone should talk to the Centennial coach and fix the way the fans treat their opponents. They beat the drums and blow noise makers not only before the kids at bats, but during them. I see alot of games and have never seen this done, at any level.

It can be stopped. Talk to the school board or principal. If it's truly unsportsmanlike it can be stopped. Seen it happen at HS basketball games. I know a school that set a whole new set of rules for their student section during hoops contests because of the things they were getting away with.
There is precedent for the umps to control the noise makers.
If a car nearby has lights on the umps stop the game until the lights are turned off.
I've also seen them ask a photographer who is "flashing" to hold the flash.
So noisemakers? Maybe.

But where's the line on noise? At football games the cats, dogs, and band are out. Why not baseball? Tradition? Makes the pitcher and hitter more distracted than the quarterback, fullback and wide out? Respect for the game? The old guys don't like it?

Actually if my old memory serves me right...how's about them b-o-o-berries (sorry had to get around the censorship) in Yankee Stadium, or just the noise associated with any game in the MLB? How about a game in Japan? Did you every watch the movie MR. BASEBALL with Tom Selleck. I think I have seen those blow up bat smashers at games at the Ballpark in Arlington. And how about good ole ZONK! I bet no one tried telling him not to beat his drum!

I agree that typically at a HS game or "Select/Youth" game the crowd is usually very reserved except for a few. crazy But why? Sometimes it's like going to church..."shhh no one say anything little Johnny's at bat it it might hurt his feelings" ...boo hoo... HEY! There AN'T NO CRYING IN BASEBALL remember?...except on Senior Night! cry

We might get a few more people in the baseball stands if it was a little more fun to watch and be a fan. We all want more funding from our schools...more people in attendance = more money in the budget. Involve the band and the cheerleaders. When more students are involved, more parents come to the games. Involvement = money. I used to teach at a school where the cheerleaders cheered at every baseball game. It was good for all involved, and yes, it did drive the opposing crowds and coaches nuts!
