I would think that Cox will have a hand in who comes out of Conference 1 in the 6A South.  Conference 2 should be very competitive.  I would be surprised if the 2 who move on don't consist of some combination of Woodside, Western Branch, and Grassfield.

In the 5A South, I would think that Hickory has to be the front runner in the Atlantic.  In the Peninsula Conference, I like the red-headed step child (Nansemond River) to compete for one of the two regional spots. (No disrespect intended towards red-haired kids from blended families!)   Apparently, word on the street  is that Menchville is the team to beat on the Peninsula, in that conference, in the region, and perhaps the entire world!   So we'll have to wait and see!

Having seen all of them, my view is that Woodside is young, but talented.  Frankly, Western Branch is in a similar boat.  Granby was also very solid in the fall, so I'm not suggesting that they can't win it.  As I said previously, the conference, top to bottom, should be very competitive.  But, since you asked...I still like the top two to come from some combination of the aforementioned three (WS, WB, GF)!  I always reserve the right to be wrong!
