Anyone else think the NSA & CIA need to hire the VHSL to keep all their documents secure?  It's easier getting info from my teenage kids than the VHSL and that is saying a lot!  The only info that I have found is these teams advance.

Anyone have dates / times or a link?

Phanatic,

Your son must have been talking to my son because that is same info I got.   Neither is the chatty type either :-).  VHSL website is not up to date, and tomorrow is a school day.   Not sure how they were going to get the word out.  At the very least, I know we are home tomorrow.  I assume 5pm start time.

Not shocking to me.  Nice win for Granby!  From what I can tell, Anderson threw his butt off! Does Granby have a super soft lefty?

I don't think any of their main pitchers are lefties, but I could be wrong.  I'm assuming Wednesday's game will also be at Wesleyan since Granby will be home team, but I didn't hear it officially.

Cosby defeated C.D. Hylton, 11-6.

Cosby jumped out 8-1 on a lot of strong hitting, but Hylton fought back.  Riley Wilson came out throwing harder than I can remember seeing him but struggled with an umpire who was very tight all game (both ways).  Hylton got the leadoff man on every inning after the 1st.  Cosby threw away two separate DP balls to help Hylton but they hit a lot also.  Zach Mort replaced Wilson midway through the 4th and had enough to finish the 21st out.

Biggest game on offense was Jason Ciucci, 4-4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI.  Tyler Fitzgerald was 2-3 plus a walk, 2 RBI, and several other hitters came through once or twice for Cosby as well.  Hylton was a strong, athletic looking team who never quit and probably gave Cosby as tough a test as they could've wanted.  Several of their guys raked it, they also ran the bases aggressively, all in all a very impressive team.

I'm not sure how a Woodbridge team ends up in the South region, but had they been in the North, this might've been your state championship matchup.

Cannot agree with the accolades paid to CD Hylton. It's not that it was a 2-1 pitching duel! Cosby scored 11 runs and Hylton a mere 6. Cosby did not play well on defense and Riley was "squeezed', BUT Cosby just plain beat CD Hylton! Furthermore, the Cosby kids are class acts [like their coach] and are "athletic"....the CD Hylton players may have been "athletic" but anything but classy! Taunting, and lack of hustle would never be tolerated or accepted at Cosby. Rest assured at least two of the Hylton players would not be on a  Tim Lowery coached team.

Bottom line...a classy Cosby bunch whupped a cocky Hylton bunch! Ain"t baseball great?

Cosby definitely showed me they are classy tonight at WB.    While WB dog piled, Cosby lined up and waited respectfully.   Had to be tough losing first game of season and watching other team celebrate, but they did it with class, and heads held high.   Here's to hoping for a rematch in the state championship game!   Cosby is definitely well coached and very talented.

Your character is shown fully in defeat.

Some handle it with class and others make excuses, point fingers and stab backs.

Rest assured, the Cosby kids are a class act and this display in their first loss of the year is no surprise.  The run to a State Championship can come down to a break here and there but I have my money on the Titans being right there in the end.  Talent is there. Senior leadership is there.  High level coaching is there.

Still comes down to execution and staying focused - and for those reasons I can see Cosby finding a way to pull out 2 more wins next weekend.

In any event - it's going to be a great final 4!!!

It a good news - bad news thing.  The good news for Cosby is they are still in the hunt, and get to play next Friday and hopefully Saturday.  They tasted their first loss but it didn't cost them the season.  They were out played, out hustled and out "lucked" (sometimes the breaks don't go your way) by a very good Western Branch team.  There is no bad news for Cosby if the team is still in the brackets for a state championship.  Every team has a chance in a 2 game series.  Everybody gets to start fresh with their starting rotations .   It should be some good baseball.

BTW - I thought last nights umpiring was very good and the WB fans were very classy.
