Bob, thank you for starting this thread and for the link.
What a powerful player and leader Mr. Campanella was for the Dodgers in their last years in Brooklyn.
His history in the Negro leagues brings somewhat full circle for me a current effort to revitalize West Field, the former ball park of the Homestead Grays in Homestead PA.
As I understand it, the field has been mostly vacant since the decline of the Grays and the Steel Mills. Now it is being rebuilt with goals of a beautiful new facility for softball, little league, a major league field and areas for other mixed use sports.

While this is being done, the history of the Grays is also part of the effort, so their contributions are never lost and forgotten, similar to your efforts and those of this writer to never forget Campanella.
