TR,
C'mon now, whose idea was this forum anyways?

Right now LL all-stars is very important for my 12yo and as a result very important to me. At the same time I find it hard to understand why the parents of the younger kids are getting so worked up over their all-star tournaments. Then I remember that I was the same way when my kid was that age.

I also figure that when my son is in HS I'll wonder how anyone could think LL all-stars is important.

Give 'em a break!

Oh yeah, I bet it is quite the money maker! Smile

9 U is a bit early for a "World Series"

Cmon now yourself-- Yea --This forum was my idea so we could all learn from each others experiences-- I just do not agree that 9U "World Series ", or 10U for that matter are a kewl thing for kids--great for the parents but quite a bit of stress on the 9 year old

We are developing kids who have no childhood at all and then we wonder why they "burn out" in HS if not before

.
I can't imagine a nine year old not enjoying a World Series. A nice trip and a week of good baseball, WHAT COULD BE BETTER???

No childhood? I bet you would have given anything to compete in a World Series when you were a kid?

Gladiator Coach,

What team do you coach(where are you from)? Are you taking a team to this tournament? I heard it will have nearly 100 teams this year. Should be fun!

Not to belabor the point--

01--I don't like it for kids now-- never have

02- BET??? YOU LOSE !!!!-- I was happy being a boy--- I began the serious baseball when I was 12 with a dad who was not coaching me, overseeing what I was doing yes, but not a coach of record on any team I played for-- and I played on teams at 12 years of age in 1955 that played under lights which didnt happen too often back then.

03-- again I reiterate as to the question of burnout !!!!--You are going to tell me that a 9U World Series doesn't lead to it

Just my feelings--it ain't my kid nor my grandsons that are involved and getting burned out
Yes, I coach a 9U team and we are planning on going. It should be FUN for the kids and a chance to play teams from all over. Originally we weren't going to go, but all the kids wanted to go.

We'll stay a week in a hotel and the kids will get to trade pins, meet other players from all over the US, and see some sights. We will play our games and have a good time win or lose.

I was just looking for other people that had been to this tournament before and some ideas on what to expect. I understand that St. Louis has hosted this tournament a couple of years.
