OK we are now 2 weeks into the season 6 days a week. Ordering uniforms-balls-equipment-etc (re-ordering uniforms). Try outs, setting up rosters(making sure all kids have their proper forms in), making final team adjustments (talking to kids and parents), finalizing games for three teams(rescheduling 1/4 of them), scrimmages, Alumni games, tournaments. Players meetings, parent meetings, booster club meetings. Teams have been practicing from 2:00PM until dark, injuries,Dr's, re-adjusting rosters, (more talking to kids and parents) Transportation, buses, carpools, scorekeepers......AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

I have no idea how you guys do it, but THANK GOD for HS baseball coaches!

Thank you very much. No one that does it for the right reasons ever considers the pay they get as one of the reasons. For me it has always been about the competition and desire to build a program. Its about the relationships you build with your players. And most importantly hoping that in some way I can make a difference in a young mans life. Its nice to know that people appreciate what you do. But I have to admit I get as much if not more out of it myself.
We get paid???????? I didn't know that. That means it will help me afford to pay for all the McDonald's value meals I have to pick the tab up for on all those road trips for the kids who don't have money.

In all seriousness I thank you as well but if you really want to thank us then:

show me the kid who as a middle schooler is the troublemaker and bad student who becomes the kid teachers love to have in class;

show me the kid who never played an inning growing up because everyone knew they couldn't play but is all district / conference whatever for me;

show me the kid who had the parents gripe and complain because you move their kid to another position but shakes your hand and thanks you because they got a chance to play college ball;

the parent who never says a word about why you do this or do that with their son but says thank you when they graduate.

I can't say job or work because this is something I love to do and wouldn't change any of it.
Coach May and all the other HS coaches, thank you.

I've only done coaching at the youth level, but it was enough to experience how ridiculous parents can be at times. I once had a parent who waited until the last out of the season during the championship game to complain about his kid's playing time (and I played him just as much as the others). It's really a thankless position at times, but as Coach May alludes to a good coach does it for love of the game and is motivated to help kids.
BOF,
Thank you for recognizing coaches and starting this thread.
BOF, fanofgame, and Bum,
Thank you for your kind words and support. Your HS coaches are lucky to have supportive parents like you all.

HS coaches across America need to hear this more often. There's always plenty of people who complain about their coaches, but too few praise the good things coaches do. Sometime, a simple thank you is all we need to put smiles on our faces. Thank you for puting a smile on my face! Smile
