I found a few intereting games on this weeks slate of games....

MONDAY
Cosby @ LC Bird
both team were off last week I think. May have a little rust to shake off or mybe the will be rested?

TUESDAY
LC Bird @ Cosby
Back to back these two see each other. I kind of like the idea. Some have suggested it is a better format keeping any one team from riding one pitcher both times they meet.

Manchester @ James River
Last time out I think Machester was kind of embarrased. Have to believe they will be out to prove they are better than 16-1 which I think they clearly are

Prince George vs Dinwiddie
One of the few tests top ranked Dinwiddie will get in the Central District. Regardless of records this game is usually a showdown

Wednesday.
Hanover vs Mills Godwin
Hanover has been out there doing what they do so far this year. Godwin seems up and down but can defineitely put some good pitchers on the field. May see Matt Lee coming off a 17 strike out performnce

THURSDAY.
James River @ Midlothian
will see if Midothian who had been playing tough can bounce back from a thrashing they took before Spring Break...gut check time for the Trojans

FRIDAY.
Lee Davis vs Atlee.
In football I think they call this one the Tomato Bowl? Or maybe that involves Patrick Henry?

According to the paper, Godwin used Garrett for a complete game (five innings) win yesterday against Thomas Jefferson (Godwin won 24-2). I've seen a lot of different approaches to these games before, but this one makes no sense to me.

Godwin has Hanover today and Deep Run Friday. Five innings means Garrett is done for today, and he probably should be done for Friday. They have to have the depth to "get by" without using one of their better pitchers against TJ. If it was just an inning or two for a tune up then ok, but I just don't get it.

Please disregard this post- as mentioned below, the paper got the name wrong.

I guess they were better, in the sense that they held James River to 6 this time. But Kirby went 6, Scheetz closed, and Manchester got only 3 hits in a 6-0 loss.

On balance it seems like the JR offense has come down to earth, so they can be had in a game where someone both gets solid pitching and is able to work hard for runs. That was how Cosby did it. But one iron rule of baseball is, you can't win if you can't score, and with Kirby, Roberts and Scheetz all rolling now, it'll be darned hard to pin too many L's on the Rapids from here on out.
