Great game last night, everybody had their chances...

I also thought it was worth mentioning specifically that there has never been a better example of it being a game of inches.

I realize that there was much more to it than this, but in one way of thinking...the whole 162 game season, tens of millions of dollars and careers turned on a quarter inch of fabric...

Simply amazing stuff.

Cool

I'm with you guys on this. Not sure that the jersry was even hit.If you watch it closely the jersey starts to form on his twist.I would think that there would been some deformation of the the jersey at contact and there does not appear to be any. Imagine what would have happenrd if Inge was awarded 1st. Those guys might still be going at it.Either way that game was a great one. Congrats to the Twins and kudos to the Tigers for leaving it all on the field. Now go Yanks

There was a turn, the ball did hit the jersey. That is a HBP. The ump missed it, but it was miss-able.

The reason the uni counts as HPB is to avoid the guessing and arguing that would ensue whether or not the body was struck.

The only time the uni doesn't count is if it is improperly worn. It would be rare for that to be called in MLB and would no doubt result in at least two ejections and an umpire in the doghouse.
