"A Glove of their Own" is just a children's book. When I first saw it I didn't think twice about it. But then when I came across an article about the book in Baseball Digest that highlighted this "Pay it Forward" movement I took a second glance.
I have only spoke with the producer of this book, Bob Salomon, a few times but I thought his actions and story were worth at the very least one blog post. At first I was impressed that he had led this "pay it forward" movement where proceeds from each sale of the book will be donated to organizations that make sure children across the nation have" a glove of their own."
However, upon further investigation of the story I became amazed at how this movement has spread. First it was a picture of Yogi Berra holding the book. Then Jose Reyes. Then Don Mattingly. Then Phil Niekro. Then Nelson Cruz. Then it was "The Dennis Miller Show". Then it was UpperDeck. Then it was Rawlings. The list didn't stop... And that is when it hit me, how powerful this one book had become in the baseball world and how powerful a movement like this can truly be.
I have 0% stake in this book, but I do encourage you to take 5 minutes to visit the book's site and see where this book has ( literally ) gone from and to. I think any baseball fan would be impressed. I know I was.
