As a longtime reader and somtime contributor (or at least commenter, I don't know how valuable my contributions have been . . .), I was enjoying some of the questions from the folks with younger players and reflecting on the immense value of these discussions.

I was also thinking about a comment 2013 made when he was researching colleges and would read the comments from existing or former students. When someone would be particularly nasty, he always said, "any idiot with a computer can comment - it doesn't make him an expert. You have to take some comments with a grain of salt."

That's why there are certain contributors here whose opinions are always so very, very highly valued and sought. They are much more than a warm body with internet access. I would encourage the new members to look carefully not only at current posts, but also read through some old posts from frequent contibutors to see just how much expertise is available here. Conversely, I would also encourage members - especially when faced with a snarky response to your post - to look at the quality and number of posts made by others. From time to time you will see a new member jump on to speak badly about a coach or program, and then you realize that it is the only post they have ever made on these boards, which should make you question their motives.

Just a grain of salt from another idiot with a computer here in the snow-covered Midwest . . .
