Thanks infielddad!

It certainly is a great reminder to me to recognize that while at times I think our own sons are facing adversity, it is no where even close to what Jackie Robinson overcame including after he made it to the big leagues.

Any bumps in the road our sons have faced pales in comparison.

Our older son once told a scout that he thought one of the biggest qualities he would need to 'make it' in baseball was perseverance.  Wow!  Thinking about Jackie Robinson, it seems that thought may not have even scratched the surface.

For all the things we criticize MLB for, this is one of the things they got right.  Jackie Robinson day is a tribute to a great man and all the people he's inspired.  While everything is not perfect in the world today it is a reminder of the distance we've come in sports and society and how far we still have to go.  I love Jackie Robinson Day for those reasons.  JMO.
