Some random football thoughts while trying to make it to college baseball opening days...

Last night's Packers/Cards game was one of the wildest playoff games I've ever seen.

How can you not love Peyton Manning?  On the field, off the field, in commercials.

Why can't I have a Peyton or a Russell Wilson for my Browns at QB?

When was the last time the NFL ended up with a 1v2 on both sides for the conference championships?

How can the NFL be so inconsiderate as to hold the Super Bowl the same weekend as so many of our sons' opening college baseball weekends?

Browns  at QB?

I hear Hugh Jackson and Browns are sending Johnny Immature (Ryan Leaf reincarnated) out the door; Mel Kuiper says the Cal QB is the Browns pick at #2

When was the last time the NFL ended up with a 1v2 on both sides for the conference championships? Not sure..maybe more than you think

Of interest, last weekend ALL ROAD teams won..this weekend ALL HOME teams won.

And here in the Carolinas, we have the beautiful distraction of the Panthers making it to the NFC Championship this Sunday after a stellar 16-1 season. The town is painted blue and it's Panthers everything and everywhere. At the same time, pre-season HS workouts are ramping up, uniforms being ordered and I can already smell the sweet scent of mowed grass, the crack of the bat in the batting cage and the red dust that is prolific. Come early February, (Feb 8) Football will be disappearing in the rear window and baseball will be looming large. Can't wait!
