CASon pitched in a game today for the first time in a year and a half and for the first time in HS. He threw the 6th inning against a strong non league opponent in the first game of a JV doubleheader when the other team had their starters in with his team down 3-0. He got their #9 hitter to ground to second on a 3-2 fastball after the catcher couldn't find a foul popup. He hit the leadoff hitter with a change in the dirt and then got the #2 hitter to pop up. He got the number 3 hitter on fly ball to right. The surprise to me was that he was throwing 80-81 consistently on the JUGS gun as he was only throwing about 75 max three weeks ago. It'll be interesting to see where he plateaus on velocity. He's still got a lot of work to do as he had no control of his off speed stuff and had to rely entirely on his fastball. He also played a couple innings at first and his height was a help there including one play where he went up for a high throw and swept a tag for the out. They tied the game in the bottom of the sixth and the next pitcher who was coming off a UCL injury threw two good innings but got the loss.
