Sometimes it makes me cringe seeing young players take advantage of the ones who brought them to where they are. I hope this post will catch the attention of at least one ballplayer. I'm challenging any of yall to go and thank your parents. You might not understand what this all means now, but they are the ones who have acted as a catalyst in your young career.

Parents are the ones that.....

Stood in the 30 degree and below district games

Drove you around Texas and back for the tournaments in your younger days

Surprised you with the tournament shirt without asking

Threw Batting practice until they couldn't lift their arm up

Had to start throwing soft toss because throwing BP was a physical impossibility

Packed all those bags and pillows into the car on Fridays and gave you the whole weekend

Made sure you had the Gatorade, Powerade, Bananas, Whatever when you needed it between games

Stayed up late in that hotel watching sportscenter and talking about the upcoming or already played games

And my favorite

Took you to those Major League games early enough to see the start of batting practice and stayed late enough for you to find a ball

Go out and thank the people who brought you where you are and never forget where you came from...

I knew i had great parents, but i didnt realize how lucky i was until i went off to college. Baseball was their life just as much as it was mine and I now regret not thanking them more often when i was home. Thank them for everything they do when they do it. Dont take it for granted and dont expect them to do it.
