...earlier this summer, my son's team won the Super Series 13u National Championship (National Division) in Longmont CO. He was fortunate enough to make all tournament, and we all had a great time, which tends to happen when you win. The competition was very, very tough.
A few weeks ago, his Babe Ruth team, the Scottsdale Firebirds, battled their way through a tough bracket to win the Arizona State Championship and it was off to the Pacific Southwest Regional.
It is different than the SuperSeries, of course. Rosters are limited by geography and only two other players from his Mudcats travel team play on the Babe Ruth team.
But it still is a very, very talented team, and it caught fire in nearly every aspect of the game and in the stunningly beautiful settings of Panguich UT (Bryce Canyon) and Richfield UT, we deafeated Utah, 17-0, Northern California (Palo Alto), 5-1, Southern California (LaCrescenta) 3-2 and then SoCal again, 5-4, to win the Pacific Southwest Regional. The son (the youngest of four) was fortunate again to make All-Tournament). It is now off to the Babe Ruth World Series in Jamestown NY Aug. 20-27 where we open against the Mid-Atlantic champs, a team from Montgomery NJ.
It has been a blast. For all others who have had similar experiences this summer, I hope you have enjoyed them as much as we have, which I am sure you have.
