early on we've been very up front with our coaches about our son's goals...

having said that, my son was told by our AD last year..."if you don't play football...don't expect me to help you in your pursuits." - he and a few other brave souls were singled out during early spring football workouts...

so for those who will have roadblocks in this area...I offer words of encouragement - help you son to be objective and honest and quiet (with regard to responding to certain issues)...and let his skills and his attitude not be a reflection of those who do not appreciate his dream...

now a year later..I have parents who are coming to me asking how to get their son recruited and how we did it...

Be dilligent, be persistent, becommitted.

This site gives wonderful advice. We as parents of baseball players are in a very unique position where it can be done even without the help of your high school coach. With showcases, camps and summer ball, much recruiting is done beyond the confines of the high school fields.

And lastly, don't burn bridges. You never know what might be very attractive in a different time frame. And never, ever (at least in the Southeast and Southwest) under estimate the quality of junior college baseball.
