While catching up on my son's Facebook page this morning, I ran across the following article about the catcher's position; described there as the "Toughest Job in Sports."
Prepster - Good article, and accurate in IMHO. There is no question in my mind that catching is the toughest & most demanding position in sports when you consider everything. A baseball team (defensively) will only be as good as their catcher.
They may very well be the most undervalued player on the field, but a good catcher provides the most entertainment for my buck. I often find myself congratulating the opposing catcher because I understand just how difficult the position can be. Nice article.
Thanks very much, justanotherfan... and welcome to the site!
My son, a former pitcher and current pitching coach, never misses an opportunity to recognize and praise a good catcher. He knows that he owes his catcher for a significant portion of anything that might have gone well for him on the mound.
