Hoping for Menchville or Cox vs WS so we (NoVa) can get a gander at the fans chasing the buses and marauding the fields. Maybe some good ump fights and kids getting tossed. Throw is some foul language for a bonus and we gots ourselves some fun. woooo doggie.

Its very dull at our games, aside from an occasional umpire huddle.
I'm just giving you what you wanted. Surly that comment was posted to get a response. But I mean this is baseball not Hockey, there will be no obscenities, kids getting thrown out, and ump fights. But if the games up there are as boring as you say then surly you will find our games to be more exciting. Good luck, hopefully you will be visiting ODU.
Just to kind of clear the air about the whole Menchville/IR thing once and for all...

It was blown WAY out of proportion on here because... of the HANDFUL of people involved in the whole incident, 2 of of them were on here going back and forth.

Yes, IR fans were giving the ump the business in the 7th, but there WERE some tough strike calls there. Yes, Menchville fans were taunting throughout the game and when a K happened on a questionable strike 3 call and the Menchville fans tried to heckle the batter, a player for IR reacted negatively, the ump saw it and tossed him. After the game a FEW Menchville fans/players heckled that same IR player on the way to the bus.

There is no need to kind of make umbrella statements about the Southeast region due to a collection of about 10-15 people's behavior in a winner-goes-to-states, loser-goes-home game, just because they carried over to here... it wasn't that out of control AT ALL.

The MAJORITY of the fans in the stands and players on the field for both teams acted with dignity & respect... and those who weren't at the game haven't heard that on here.

River Ball - I don't think I made an "umbrella statement" about the SE region.

I will say you guys are very defensive about a post that was meant as a joke. I'm sure the behavior was an exception not the norm. Nonetheless, it was posted in all its gory details without punctuation or spell check.

I'm confused about the ODU local also.

We are looking forward to seeing some good ball. Good Luck.

It’s that time of year again. Haha Yes ball4 that was clearly a joke and from what I can gather so was the response but who knows? As far as the ODU not sure what that means maybe localbaseball thinks States runs through ODU it does not. Cox host the opening game at ODU Tues night and if they win I think they go up north? Not sure?
Pronounced slope? Smoke one through? I really don't think it's that dramatic, but the all grass infield is certainly different than a lot of venues, especially this time of year, as many of the harder infields start to bake in the hot sun.

Last year was the first for the Bermuda turf at Westfield and my observations is that the surface has gotten somewhat faster as the Bermuda has added layers. Is it still as fast as some of the harder infields from southern parts of VA? No.
