I know a lot of posters are looking for brackets for the AABC North TX State Tournaments so I posted them on the front page of our DBAT website. Each of the 18U & 16U tournament brackets are on this file and you can browse them all at the bottom of the Excel page. Good luck to everybody....

If I read yesterday's posts correctly,
Mr. Glory and Mr. Kirk were suggesting
that 'Super 8-18' would overpower the
'Dallas Tigers-18'.

When I read the brackets, it looked like
the D.Tigers were going to play the 'Bucs'.
were they the 'Super 8-18' team?

no matter; Tigers 20, Pirates or Bucs 2.

Verhagen slammed one over Arlington Hts.
right field 'monster' and everybody else
hit it hard and hit it often. J.Cooper
chunked up the 5innings for Tigers.

Not sure if Tigers have any pitching but
they durn sure can hit the ball.

Thanks to Mr. Glory & Mr. D.P. for that
clarification. Blacksox have some pitching,
I hear and I've read here that the McK
Marshalls are pretty stout. Mightn't they
have a shot?

I'll try to hitch a ride over to see some
of the LoneStar action. In the meantime-
howcome these tournaments are called "State"
tournaments if there are 4 or 5 of them going
on in the same State? Does just one go on
to the next step? In Houston, right?

thanks.......m00n

It is my assumption, that the Mustangs "1A" team is going to participate in the CM Regional. I can't say for sure, but I believe the Mustangs field two 18U teams. One will go to Premier in Joplin, and the other CM Regional. My knowlegde of what "Premier" is exactly is also very limited.

As for the Championship game played today in the Lone Star tournament, the score does not reflect the quality or integrity of the Marshal's club. I was extremely impressed with the organization and talent of the Marshal's team after watching them this weekend. Their program examplifies a class organization. Although I am unfamiliar with the leadership of this organization on a personal level, their actions would lead me to assume that this organization will be a major force in the near future. It is comforting to know that an organization like this exsists for Dallas' youth baseball.
Ditto about the Marshals - Shane and Andy have put together a solid group of coaches and players. I was very impressed this week and would expect nothing less from them in the future.

BTW, the Lake Highlands Wildcats defeated the Patriots 17 by a 5-3 score to win the BBI State Tournament @ Jesuit. Congratulations to Rusty Hill & Co. - another class group of guys.

Ken and DBAT GM: Thanks for the kind words. Hearing that from one of the top organizations in the area is quite an honor. We try to make sure our players represent themselves with class when they are on the ballfield. I must say that we could not have the team we had if it were not for the support these fine men received from their parents. When we only have to coach our players on how to play the game and not worry about what they may say or how they are going to act on the field, makes our job a lot easier. For that I want to thank our parents for raising exceptional young men. These players are a direct reflection of the love and support their parents give them and it was very evident all summer long that we had and incredible group of parents. They all were very thoughtful and supportive of our organization.

There are two main things I try to get across to the players I am with: 1. My dad, Al Alford, told me that baseball does not owe you a thing, and you will get out of baseball exactly what you put into it. 2. The late Steve Adair, whom helped me refine my coaching skills during the summers, always said this and I follow it everyday, "It's not about baseball boys, it's about honoring God." If my players can take with them these two things, then they will be successful and not just with baseball.

Good luck to DBAT and to all the other teams from the North Texas area next week at regionals. From what I can see it's going to be a dog fight.

Lance Alford

p.s. Andy, it was a blast this summer my friend! I look forward to this coming school year at Legacy and then next summer with the Vegas and Black.
