What do you all know about these injuries, and what are the treatments when the usual rest, physical therapy and anti inflammatory drugs dont work? My insurance is only good in my area, and my kid is out of state. He just doesnt seem to be in any hurry to get over here and have it looked at.

From what I've read on the internet, seems like surgery may be required. Any experience with this? How long to recover to playing ball? It seems like there are a couple different options and both involve treating the impingement and the repair to the tendon(s).

YBM ...

Rotator cuff injuries can vary depending on the extent of the injury and as far as I know, treatment varies by injury.

But regarding your insurance dilemma ... if your son is away at school for baseball, isn't there some kind of secondary coverage offered through the baseball program? Most schools that I know of offer additional coverage, and pick up whatever the primary coverage doesn't pay for. Just a thought and possibly an option to investigate.
