That's great for the student that is not a student-athlete. I have known some student-athletes in some sports that are able to fit study abroad into their schedule. Unfortunately for most baseball players it's not feasible. Between fall ball, winter conditioning, spring season playing their sport, and playing in college summer leagues, there is just not time for anything else. My experience has been with D1 baseball. Are other levels able to fit in a semester abroad? It's really too bad as it is such a great experience for these kids to experience other countries and their culture.
I can't speak for other schools, but at (D3) Haverford, my guess is 2/3rds take a semester abroad.

Obviously the baseball team, who make up about 6-7% of the school's enrollment, are limited to fall semesters only.

While HaverSon was playing, we hosted at least eight baseball players who were taking long weekends in Paris, plus another 8-10 Haverford students also taking international semesters.
