It not the first time I'll start a question this way, but I just don't understand!
When you have a baseball scholarship, which usually doesn't cover all your college costs, how do you know which academic scholarships won't count against the baseball team's limits? Apparantly different academic scholarships are counted differently when it comes to the 11.7 rule.
I know this gets discussed here and there, but can you go to a place like the NCAA website and find a list to guide you?

There's no "list."

The specific criteria required for scholarship "blending" in Division I are on this website here:

The aspect that hangs most people up (and creates the impression that it's different from place to place) is that an academic scholarship has to be "part of the institution's normal arrangements for academic scholarships; awarded independently of athletics ability...". In other words, the funds have to be as available to the non-athlete as they are to the athlete.

This works to the advantage of institutions in those states that offer "Hope-type" awards because they are so generally available. Ironically, it works to the disadvantage of some of the nation's academically elite institutions that can't offer "Hope-type" awards; as academic money is often only made available to non-athletes at a level that relatively few baseball players achieve.
