I think several of the membership must be happy about this.

ACC Select announced today it will offer exclusive online coverage of ACC baseball, marking the first time in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) history that the conference will provide online video streams of the sport's regular season games to a national fan base. Beginning on Feb. 2, ACC Select will carry more than 115 ACC baseball games - delivering an unprecedented opportunity for fans to watch live and on-demand coverage of a college sport rarely available to watch on television.

Games will be available live and on-demand exclusively at www.accselect.com on a per-event basis ($3.99 per event) or All Event Pass (available for a limited time at the introductory price of $5.99 per month).

The ACC is nationally recognized for the strength of its baseball program and has six of the top 13 schools in the Associated Press' pre-season Top 25, including Clemson (#2), North Carolina (#5), Miami (FL) (#6), Virginia (#10), Georgia Tech (#11) and Florida State (#13).

"Having the opportunity to showcase the outstanding baseball programs in the ACC to both a national and international audience is tremendous in terms of exposure for the league and its member institutions," said ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford. "The partnership between the ACC, Raycom Sports, Lincoln Financial Sports and Turner Broadcasting continues to reach new milestones and we are extremely excited to be out in the forefront of this technology."

"The ACC is a powerhouse in baseball and we're excited to offer exclusive online coverage of more than 115 games on ACC Select that fans would otherwise be unable to watch," said Phil Sharpe, SVP of technical operations and development for Turner Sports. "From baseball and basketball, to lacrosse and tennis, ACC Select is the best place for alumni, parents and fans everywhere to watch ACC sports and match-ups that they can't see anywhere else."

Launched in September 2006 through a partnership with Raycom Sports, Lincoln Financial Sports and the ACC, ACC Select provides fans with the best seat in the house for ACC Olympic-type sports that are not available through traditional broadcast and/or cable television distribution. The site includes a large portfolio of match-ups across 20 different sports for all 12 ACC schools, including men's and women's basketball, lacrosse, s****r, tennis, ice hockey and cross country. ACC Select utilizes the production and technical capabilities of Turner Broadcasting, which also provides streaming video platforms for many properties, including CNN.com, NASCAR.COM, PGA.com and PGATour.com.

Does the ACC have like ...uhhh...like poker tournaments and stuff like that? That'd be cool to see those too...I wonder if anyone has ever thought of streaming or televising anything like that?

...what? You're kidding...really? Over 50 hot dogs in 12 minutes? Were buns included? They were! How about sport peppers...were they included? No. You say he was just a little guy...not some big fat guy? Wow! I'd pay to see that! Now be a good ploughman and pass me the piccalilli!

Seriously...it is good that collegiate baseball is going to be more easily accessible .

I Like it almost as much
As Chinese water torture?

AD how are you, are you ready to use up all your frequant flier miles this year? LoL
CSTV looks like there going to have a lot of
Games on video.

Also AD a player from WA. ST. Will be playing at the AF Acadamy named Ben Ausbun I believe.
JD and Ben played on the same summer team as 14yr old's.
Ben reminds me of your #2 son. Solid player, power at the plate, good hitter.

EH, 44, Tom and Woody...

I know you're supposed to brag over on the other thread, but just saw the following on cadKID#2 on the Internet:

http://navysports.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/013007aaa.html

He has had a very tough time this past Fall, not just on the Field, adjusting to College Ball, but also with all the Basic Training stuff, being so far from home, etc.

You are a single-celled amoeba, you are the lowest life form on the Planet... if we wanted you to have a girlfriend, we would have requisitioned you one!!!

So I think this will boost his morale a lot. Nothing like seeing it in ink... if it's good that is...

cadKID#1 seems MORE THAN READY. 3 dingers in last Friday's final scrimmage. Calls and letters are now coming in. It was announced last Friday that one of last year's grads was "released" or traded "commitments" to play in the NBA. So hopefully this is some indication of a precedent.

Can't sleep, can't work, just watching weather.com to see if the games are on...

GENTLEMEN... PLAY BALL !!!

Milo...go to www.accselect.com

I signed up yesterday for a two week free trial, then bought a $15 cable to hook up my computer to our LCD TV and in two minutes was watching the Maryland vs. Virginia basketball game from 1/18/07.

If you expand the picture too much the quality isn't great but it'll be darn good enough on Friday at 4pm ET when the Tennessee baseball team takes on Florida State. BTW, it's 14 degrees here!

I just might be watching college baseball instead of the Super Bowl!!!
AcademyDad,

Congratulations to your son, slated to be the starting SS as a freshman is a great accomplishment.

I also must commend the Navy Sports Information Director for the nice series of articles about the team. I have been checking all the Patriot League sites looking for baseball info and the rest of the conference hasn't had much yet. Don't they realize how hungary us parents are for even minor updates this time of year.

Good luck to the Midshipmen at least until they meet the Leopards in April. Hope to meet you in Annapolis.

This is great stuff! Ended up watching #18 FSU (BA preseason poll) beat # 11 Tennessee 9-2... then watched Mercer battle back from a 5-0 deficit to beat Miami 6-5 in a classic 9th inning rally.

It’s single digits temps with sub-zero wind chills outside and I’m watching some of the best college baseball… live from Florida. What’s not to like. I hope this catches on and other conferences start web-casting.

The best part of the experience… you could hear a vender in the background during the Mercer/Miami game hawking “ice cold water… ice cold coke”.

FSU is on again at 12:00 cst (1:00pm est). $5.99 per month… I spend more on coffee in a week…

PLAY BALL!

GO BEARS!
Smokey, I'm about an hour from you. It's 9am Saturday morning February 3, it's 5 degrees outside and I too am watching yesterdays TN/FS game. Awesome!!!!

This might be the best technological advance since HSBBW!

Also thanks for the tip on the Miami/Mercer game, that'll be the next one to watch today.

And thank goodness the other camera men showed up in the 2nd inning or we might not have liked this deal.

As for the sound, they appear to be using the local radio announcer's feed. Do you think they tried to get the crowd noise, or is it just a badly placed microphone...like at Comisky Park when you can hear every word the drunks behind home plate say in the later innings!

I love this.
Biggerpapi,

Is this cool or what??? I agree... the camera work for the FSU/Tennessee game started out poorly. I thought we were relegated to watching the game from the corner of the 3rd base dugout focused on the batter… but as OCOB pointed out they got the other cameras working and the quality of the camera work picked up big time. The overall quality of the broadcast should get better as they figure this stuff out and get experience. Who knows… ACCSelect could be paying broadcasting/media undergrads to run this stuff???

I thought the Miami/Mercer game was much better both camera and audio… more like a professional broadcast. It leads me to believe that these webcasts will have a bit of a local flavor. Speaking of local flavor.. getting a taste of the FSU and Miami baseball venues is priceless. Get a load of “Fanatic” Miami’s mascot.

10:00am… 6 degrees out with a windchill index of -16… just put on Frank Sinatra’s “Summer Wind” trying to warm up… FSU again at noon… wish I was with soxnole in Tallahassee.

GO BEARS!
