I was involved in an Auto accident in Ixtapa, Mexico this morning. No one was seriously hurt. Fortunately, it was at the entrance to the Holiday Inn where I was staying. All I can say is thank God that the accident happened where it did. I was able to learn how far the Holiday Inn staff goes to take care of their customers.

They were there every step of the way as I (really they) negotiated the accident investigation process on the scene and at a couple of police locations. One of the staff was fluent in English and acted as my interpreter and advisor as we resolved the issues and fines with the authorities. Of course, their paramount concern was with my minor injuries. They sent a van and driver with the hotel manager to accompany the hotel clerk and I around the different locations.

When it was all over, they refused the gratuity I offered, saying that they were just doing their job. Who knows, I might be spending a few nights in the pokey without their help.

The net of all this is that if you do run into problems on the road, especially in a foreign country, check in with your hotel. If you are staying at a Holiday Inn, your bad luck might change quicker than you think.

p.s. I found a really great air fare using the Orbitz link on this page.

Have Fun!!!
