I could be wrong but most likely it was a JUCO. There are a myriad of reasons why a player will leave a D1/D2/D3/NAIA program after just their 1st semester and still want to play baseball.

JUCO's are not as stringent on the transfer rules while some are even quite lax.

P.S. The JUCO we played over the weekend had 15 players not playing because they were academically ineligible after fall. Yes...15!

As you can imagine that is not normal that they picked up 15 players and still only have 24. Was there some events that the coach shed other players or is it just a program that does not draw a lot of players.

He must have had to do a lot of recruiting/networking to pick up those 15 players at such a late date, if not he would have been in a really tough situation with only 9 players.
