The season for D2's began in early February and I have been eagerly looking at stats for each game a local D2 has played thus far. The reason? 4 seniors from my son's high school team last year are now playing for this program.

I fully expected them to go gangbusters this season. All 4 made All District their junior and senior years playing for a very good program (ranked as high as #6 in the nation last year) in a tough district. Their batting averages were all in the .300's and .400's and they were known for their extra base hits.

I was surprised to see that only one of the four is starting this season. He has not done well so far with his hitting. The others have gotten a few AB's in the first 9 games but have not gotten any hits.

Just goes to show that huge adjustments really are necessary when one is making the leap from high school to college ball.
