I have a 2017 who is currently 14 and in the 8th grade. He has an opportunity to play with a 16U team with mostly 2015's. This team will play in East Cobb twice, Evoshield Nationals in Arizona and WWBA in Florida. That's some serious $$$ for travel. Question is he too young for this? I believe he is up to the challenge and I know he will see great competition but should I wait till he is older.

Sounds like an extravagence to me. If money is no object why not? I doubt there is much he will gain skill wise from the experience at his age however. I would allocate those resources towards one on one training instead, or an excellent baseball academy over the summer.
My son did this exact thing last summer, and I thought it was an awesome experience for him... Wood bat against guys 3 years older than him... It was awesome watching him finish the summer leading the team in most offensive categories and batting in 3-hole... Gave him a ton of confidence, went on to become second freshman in almost 20 years to be a position starter on Varsity... We didn't go out of state though, stayed in Florida...
Yeah, we did that too. It was a lot of fun and he got to share the field with some great players. But we live in FL so the cost wasn't bad at all. Floridafan's probably right that unless money is no object, wait til he's older.
Thanks for your input. Much appreciated!
