ive decided with the injuries to my lower half dropping down and throwing sidearm allows me to shorten my stride a HUGE amount, allowing me to use my core better, therefore it is more effective.

i was wondering if anyone had any pointers, drills, or concepts to help in throwing sidearm successfully

thanks

I don't have any advice on techniques of throwing sidearm, but you should know that it will more than likely take you out of the running for playing D1 college ball. It is very difficult to throw hard when you throw sidearm. I've seen two guys on our team that had incredibly low ERA's (<2.00) with under ten walks each get passed over for D1 ball. Why? Because they don't throw hard. Some will say it can happen, but it is extremely rare. Just look at the rosters of colleges in your area.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get few responses on this topic because there are very few coaches that know how to coach a sidearm pitcher. This makes it difficult for them to even choose a sidearmer with projectable talent because they have no experience in bringing the pitcher up to what they need wrt velocity.

If you are only concerned with having a great senior year, I say go for it! It's a pitch batters don't see often and can lead to a great spot as a reliever or closer.
