I have a question...I was told a player can lose their college eligibility if their advisor solicits the interest of MLB scouts on behalf of his client.  Is this true?  One advisor is telling someone we know that he's going to get him more exposure and has already been in contact with several MLB teams about the player.  My advice was to not sign with a guy like that unless you know for sure there isn't an issue.

What do you think? Thanks!

There is an excellent piece on this very subject....right on this site!

Here's a quick excerpt from that article that you may find interesting:

"One thing an adviser cannot do is communicate with Major League Baseball on behalf of a player without putting the player’s NCAA eligibility at risk."

You will hear a lot of opinions about having/not having an advisor.  It comes down to personal choice/comfort, but you should absolutely do your homework before considering somebody.  There are a lot of vultures out there.
