CoachB25, I don't understand what your Cardinal's are doing by taking one of baseball's best young stars, knowing that he has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his R elbow and in need of TJ surgery, nonetheless are going to throw him out there with one good arm and expect him to be the Albert of old.

The Cards are in transition, and having Pujols healthy for 2009 seems to make a whole lot more sense than delaying the inevitable. He should have had the surgery last fall and as a position player may have seen the field by June or July.

Just my opinion. I know this is kind of off-topic but until the HS season begins, I thought I might slip it in.

I think you've almost got it backwards. Albert seems to be the type of person that you are going to have to STOP to get him out of the line up. From what I've seen, the doctor has said surgery is an option and not a requirement at this point. He can continue to play and I think he's going to play until he can't.

Do I think that's a good thing? Well, I got news for you-- my opinion doesn't matter at this point. All I can do is hope for the best because the Cardinals need him in the line up.

Is that not what I said? He wants to play, he's not being forced to.
I agree,in the end, the decision to have surgery belongs to the player. But, with the success rate improving year by year for TJ surgery, why wait? Remember those last couple of years watching the Astros Bagwell trying to play? It was very sad. I know he had shoulder problems and surgery would have probably ended his career anyway, but this is a major injury nonetheless.
