I wonder if Brett Lawrie from British Columbia was considered for Aflac All-American honors a couple of years ago.

I don't know about Aflac, but he was in the Cape Cod All-American High School Classic, or whatever it was called before it became the Under Armour All-America game and moved to Wrigley Field the following year.

But then, Canada is part of America. When we U.S. citizens forget that, it tends to chafe our neighbors a bit.
In my college sport, which was not baseball, All-America honors were awarded by the National Collegiate Coaches Association for that sport, but that was 30 years ago. All-America honors were awarded based on your place in Nationals (top four as I remember) in this individual sport. My plaque says All-America and I was taught, at the time, to always say All-America and never All-American. Don't know what goes on in that sport today.

Congratulations Tom. My son also made 1st Team Louisville Slugger HS All-America and we have been told by quite a few people "in the know" that making this particular team is a real honor and that this is a wonderful designation to get to list on somebody's baseball accomplishments. No bat, though . . . we understand from a teammate of our son's who made it last year that you get a nice certificate and a write-up in Collegiate Baseball News. Again, kudos to our boys for this honor.
