In my opinion, the selection for the All-Beach team should wait until after the regionals and state playoffs. Whose to say that either FC or Salem might step up and win and one of the players not selected might have an awesome tournament. I think that this was demonstrated with Spears from Salem only making 2nd team as an outfielder and them having the sensaional pitching performace during the beach tournamemt. An all-beach player should be one that helps their team win the "big" game and should not be based on stats or batting averages. Not to take anyting away from PA who had 7 selections--but they neither won the district or the tournament. We need to change how this selection is made and wait until the entire season is over!

LHP87 is correct --- selection to all district, all region and all state for that matter is based on the individual.
I observed the Spears young man on 3 earlier occasions and was very impressed with his use of the "change-up" while he pitched. I personally believe it(the Change-Up) to be the best in the beach district. During these games he struggle at the plate --- at one point I heard he was in an 0 for 27 --- that folks, does not speak well for a season long performance. Yes, he does appear to have climbed that hurdle with this week's performance but the selection was done with only the regular season in mind.
What if neither FC or Salem advance should the selection be tainted? NO --- I think not!!!!
There is always "SOMEONE" who is left off a selected team. There is pride in every fan, schoolmate, friend, parent and family member, and they all want their certain individual to make these teams.
All who play this wonderful game and give their all, are surely selected to the "All WORLD TEAM" !!!!!!
Give these young men who were fortunate to make these teams your support and congratulations. WHAT A WONDERFUL YEAR THEY HAD!!!!
I agree that the "All Beach" teams should be selected after the season is completely over because there is always that someone who steps up in those big situations and gets the job done. And the individuals should be recognized for that whether it be in the regular season or the state tournament. Although it would be unfair to those individuals who's teams did not make the tournament.

For the record, Jon Spears did not have a 0 for 27 slump. I don't know where your information comes from but I know this for a fact. He actually hade a 13 game hit streak going at one point in the season.

As I stated, I said "I heard" --- that's the problem. I did not attend every game, My loyalty is not with one team, just the game. But as you so stated, you know for certain so I'll defer to your knowledge. My comments were directed at the selection process (when it's right to select), your beliefs were clearly stated, the young men who's school teams do not advance should be given less of a chance. That's like you being given a timed test and 30 minutes being the limit but because the teacher liking a small group of students more, they are given 1 hour, you don't finish but they do, you answer all you can and all answers are correct, they answer all their questions, all being correct, you get a "D", they get "A's" --- not much fairness in that process, but then again someone will argue the point. Guess I should stick to what I see and know for certain. By the way, how do you come by your facts of certainty??????

I still hold true to the game and my beliefs that all these young men should be congratulated.
If you want to do educational analogies for the all Beach team---how about the kids that worked hard an made an A on the pretest are given extra credit for the final test!

All I was trying to say is that the kids who got their team to the regionals either by way of winning the district or the tournament should be rewarded for their "team" play. The whole goal of sports is to win---and kids that help their team win should get extra "kudos"!
You all are missing the entire point. The system is set up wrong. The top 4 teams should go to districts. It should be double elimination. Baseball is not a single elimination sport. No where else at any other level (other than HS) is it done this way). It makes no sense. Players are recognized as individuals when comes to all beach team selections. This is a moot point.
