Five months after my aortic dissection and four strokes I was given a clean bill of health. Today the cardiologist said I was lucky to live (1 in 6 chance) and I recovered seven months early. My only restrictions are no marathons or heavy weightlifting. I pushed the doctors hard to allow me to be pushed hard in rehab.

Wow.  Congrats on the quick recovery!  That is freaking awesome.

I'll make a personal pledge that I will live under those same restrictions.  I'll even throw in a gratis triathlon into the restrictions.

Does anyone else want to take the RJM pledge?

Thanks everyone. Fenway, triathalons were a third no no. But I was always asking how much I could lift and ended up back in the hospital for two days by being in Copley Sq watching the marathon when the bombs went off. Now I have to gain 15-20 pounds and put it on my chest, shoulders and arms. I lost two inches off my chest and waist and and inch and a half on my neck. I mowed half the lawn today. It felt good to sweat.
