All-Big 12 Conference Baseball Team Announced - May 25, 2006

DALLAS--Oklahoma State's Tyler Mach was voted Big 12 Conference Co-Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year for the 10th annual All-Big 12 Conference baseball team.

The Cowboys' junior third baseman tied with Texas outfielder Drew Stubbs for conference Player of the Year after hitting a conference-leading 16 home runs and 66 RBI. Voting was done by the league's baseball head coaches.

Stubbs paced Texas to the 2006 Big 12 team title while Pitcher of the Year Kyle McCulloch of the Longhorns went 6-1 with a 2.08 ERA in conference games only. Texas Techs' Roger Kieschnick (OF) and Miles Morgan were named Freshman Player and Freshman Pitcher of the Year, respectively.

It marked the second time in Big 12 baseball annals that the coaches chose co-Players of the Year. The previous instance was in 1998 when pitcher-DH Jason Jennings of Baylor and OF Jason Tyner of Texas A&M shared the honor.

The 2006 Big 12 Coach of the Year was Augie Garrido, who guided the Longhorns to their third Big 12 championship since 2002. He has won the award three times.
