I have never heard of the number of players on the team being dependent on what place your team finished. The first place team doesn't always have the best all around players.

We had our district meeting last week. Each team nominates a player for whatever award is up for discussion and then the coaches vote. Whoever gets the most votes, gets the award.
TurnTwo,

While there are not parameters on players selected by winning percentage, winning teams naturally will place more players.

JackRabbitDad,

Most coaches have met and selections have already been made. Most, if not all, districts have a policy that they wait to announce the A-D teams until every team in their district has been eliminated from the playoffs. Some teams will notify the kids on their team if they received an award at the baseball banquet, but not the overall list.

Hope this helps.

That is the way I've heard it usually works before they release the teams to us. Then we publish them the day our All-Area teams come out.
I was just trying to dispel the thought that the district champ gets the most players on the All-District team. This is what the orginal poster was told. Obviously it would seem that the winning teams would be well represented.

From my experience at the All-District meetings, the record of the team that a player plays on has not been discussed. We nominate players and display their stats. Then we vote. And yes, our district policy is to release the awards list when the last team in the district has been eliminated.

But a district champ could be made of a bunch of solid, but not great players with a dominant pitcher. Also, the best shortstop and 3rd baseman is on the last place team. Two of the best outfielders were on the 5th place team. And so on...
