Hirrell13,
First I'd like to congratulate your son on a great season. Wink In our state the sportswriters that belong to the TSWA (Tennessee Sportswriters Association) select the All-State team for baseball. In football it's the Associated Press. We have five classes in football, 1-A through 5-A but only three in baseball, 1-A thru 3-A. Each class has a team comprised of players picked for specific positions. A player might be a 3-A 1B or a 2-A CF. I’m sure different states do it differently but no matter what state, the all-state honor is the highest honor at the state level. Our state has one team per classification in baseball but I do know some states have more than one team and some have honorable mention but I wouldn’t research it any more. Tell everyone your son is an All-State baseball player and be proud.
Congratulations! applaude

Hirrel-

I believe the "fourth" means "fourth team". There are several all-state teams selected, and they represent "levels" (poor choice of word) of play. First Team equates to starters, then comes Second Team, Third Team, and Fourth Team. They are simliar to "strings" in football.

Not much difference between First Team and Fourth, actually. They are all at the top of the state. Congrats!
