Almost here

Here in northern New York we're still 2 months from being on a field but at least our meetings have started.

Tryouts for HS in AZ next week. First scrimmage 2/19. First game 2/24. I'm excited too...

Of course we play year round, so we never have an off season... Ever... Even when its 115 and humid, they still schedule games at 3pm...

In my 5 years of club, Jr High & HS baseball and softball, at least 500 games, I've seen less than 15 rained out or cancelled for wet fields.

When it rains here, we worry about drowning as the kids all look up with their mouths open...

Im jealous Jmoff.....I've had as many as 15 rainouts in the spring season alone..........

It's not the rainouts. It's the freeze-outs. Some days it's brutal. 34 degrees, 34 mph winds, snow squalls and "Play ball!"

HS tryout started yesterday, here in New Mexico. Still pretty darn cold. On field mechanics training Saturday

We had a 90+ degree day during our spring break (mid March)tournament last year.

Not complaining, because sun screen and an umbrella are way better than a gas heater, long underware and a bat warmer...

If it drops below 60, we consider waiting until it warms up to something more 'playable'.
