This question has come up a lot lately. So lets be honest and give some real data. Reminder - No one will know how you answer the poll, so no need to be anything but honest in order to supply data for the newer parents/players.

I won't answer until there are a number of votes already posted.

Answer to the closest percentage listed.

PLEASE! Wink

No option for 0% ?

Just tried to pick the most common numbers I hear with some amount of $$. There was one slot too few to get 0% in there...but one could answer 25% as the closest number I suppose.

I wanted to separate 90 and 100 because I just know a fair number of players that got 90, but not 100. I wanted 100 to truly mean 100!

(And I have to say I am a little surprised that there are 5 of them on here already...not shocked, but still surprised).

Would you like for me to add to the poll the players I coached the last couple of years and their offers?

Yeah, why not? Seems like we're just trying to add data here as long as you're pretty confident on reliability.

100% reliable as I speak to each of the college coaches. I will add them
I told my kids going in, their life will be determined on their efforts in the classroom, not on the baseball/softball field. Sometimes I get so focused on my son and baseball, I overlook everything my daughter has accomplishd in just two years out of college. My son went through high school with the pressure of following in her footsteps athletically and academically. Post college she certainly hasn't taken her foot of the pedal in continuing to set the challenge bar high for him.

RJM,

"My son went through high school with the pressure of following in her footsteps athletically and academically"

its the opposite at our house my daughter is following her brother, she's in her Jr. year and its hit her that if she wants to get into the schools she's dreaming about she has to hit the books harder.

Glad to hear your boy is back in the game.

How did he handle being away from the game? Where did he play ball over the summer? Tough to stay sharp and competitive when your not playin.

Best of luck to him.
The summer my son didn't play was after junior year of high school. It was his key showcase year. After playing three scout league games he tore up his knee on Saturday afternoon of the first showcase. He went nuts not just not playing. He also went nuts not being able to do much of anything all summer. He went to a few local games just to be around the guys. But it bothered him to watch and not play.

My son's issue meeting the challenge laid down by his sister wasn't just an internal challenge. In high school his sister was NHS and a three sport star. When he arrived at high school teachers and coaches would ask if he was as talented as his sister.
“The summer my son didn't play was after junior year of high school”

That was understood, I was more interested in how after not making the roster as a freshman how he stayed sharp over the last spring/summer. Did his college coach suggest a team to play for or help him get on a team? Walking on is a tough road, my son has a couple buddies attempting that this fall. I was hoping to use your son’s experience to help them. Sounds like your son made the roster for next season congrats to him.

Sorry to OP didn't intend to hijack a thread.
He sucked it up and asked to be a team manager if he could work out with the team whenever possible. While not a catcher he spend time in the bullpen catching pitchers who scared him to death until he got used to it. His former travel coach arranged for him to play on a 20U team.

thats good stuff! Do whatever it takes, good for him.

One item my son requested being sent to school was our catchers mitt. Pitchers have to catch each other during workouts. Thats one item I can do without around the house.

One father I was talking to last week said his walk on son was PO'd that he was only getting looked at in LF, he wants to play CF. probably only wants to bat clean up also!
