What is the usual format of Alumni games?
Do the upperclassmen play against the Alumni, or is it a mix?

Most of the ones I've seen or heard of thru the years (and I'm talking college here) fall into one of two varieties:
1) The starters go out there and play 9 innings against whatever the Alumni can put together (which can be pretty darn good at some places)
2) Its kind of a social event with parents of players enjoying the company of each other, the coaches and alumnae; with a game or two of baseball splashed in.

I recently umpired an alumni day (D3).....the format was 2 9 inning games with a barbeque in between games and afterwards for players, parents and alumni.
Game 1 was serious, projected starters vs the alumni......
Game 2 was relaxed with many freshman and non starters in the game.....lot of position changes, pitching changes and open substitution.

For our HS alumni game, the players aren't allowed to play (FHSAA rules). The alumni chose teams and played each other. Those who didn't play either umpired or coached. They had a blast.
I was at a college alumni game Saturday and they had one 9-inning game with music, free concessions, free autographs and photographs with the 6 professional players who came in for the game. Pretty cool. The starters played the first 5 innings and then the remaining went in the last. There was a different pitcher each inning.
