Tonight, Nick will throw out the first pitch in Oakland before the A's/Yankees game.

It is hard to imagine how much Nick, his parents, grandparents, brothers and coaches will cherish this

happening. This seems to place some perspective around so many posts which seem to define the HSBBW, too much, in my view:

That breaks your heart.

Imagine if Nick were given the chance to play high school baseball someday.  I doubt he would care who the coach was or what his philosophy was or whether or not he would jeopardize his future as a college baseball player or what the politics were or how many errors his teammates made or what not.  I would imagine Nick would voraciously welcome the opportunity.

Thanks for the link. Not sure I understand what they are doing, but hope it makes Nick's day.  BTW, "Mac n Seitz" has always been a high class organization. This is another example of the way they do things and the way they think. If Nick is ever able to play again, he is with the right people. This is a good story for people that think they're getting screwed to read.

PG, through amazing technology, Nick was in an isolation area in Kansas City. A robot was set up on the mound in Oakland.  Nick had a mound built for him and simulated throwing the pitch, well actually threw the pitch in the isolation area. The robot delivered the pitch in Oakland to the catcher, literally at the same velocity and with the same movement of the pitch Nick was throwing.

While Nick was not in Oakland, his pitch was delivered to the catcher, one of the A's players who arranged this and will be visiting Nick when the A's head to KC.

Through additional simulation, Nick has a video which does not show the robot, only Nick throwing out that first pitch, and getting a chance to play baseball, the game he loves.

Hope this helps.
