Hey everyone.
I am a junior pitcher graduating in 2010.

I am currently a varsity closer for my H.S.

I am 5'11 130lbs. But I have an arm...

I work 85-88 topping out at 89 on the stalker gun.
I work 86-89 topping out at 91 on the jugs gun.

I have a 3.6 GPA and scored a 1900 on my SAT.

I will be attending many showcases and college workouts this summer.

will colleges be interseted in me?
Do I have the talent to go D1?
I have been told by many coaches that I have huge project ability.

You could stand to eat a few more bowls of pasta Smile

The grades/scores look great!

Seriously, those numbers are right there. Can you throw them for more than a few pitches? Are those your cruising velocities or your absolute max velocities for a pitch or two? The most important question - can you pitch? It appears Tim Lincecum is your role model. If so, that is a pretty good person to follow - especially for his attitude i.e., his belief in himself.

If you can pitch and get players out with those posted numbers, they (D1 coaches) will be interested imho. The most important part is pitching in front of D1 coaches. No respectable coach will make you an offer based off what you post here on a message board. The key is pitching well when they are watching.
T.Lince04, your velocity sounds good. How's your control?

Yes, it sounds like you have tons of projectability. Just curious -- what height and weight is your dad?

My son is a freshman in college and measured 5'11", 146 lbs. in the fall. (He has managed to put on only 4 lbs. this year but his coach says he expects his body to "pop" during sophomore or junior year.) He has done well this year and projects well for the future. His coach says he cares less about bulk than explosiveness.

Best wishes with your tourneys and showcases this summer. It sounds like you've got a great future!
I have control of all 4 of my pitches.

FB: 85-88
CB: 74-76
CH: 78-81
SL: 81-83

85-88 on the stalker is my cruising speed for my fastball and is good for about 4-5 innings of work.

My dad is 6'2, 200 lbs and is an ex-professional pitcher.

I've been trying to do everything I can to gain weight but nothing really seems to work.

I really want to early sign somewhere this summer.

Thanks for all your feedback!

I was kidding about your weight! You are fine. It will happen naturally over time.

I am impressed by what you have posted. If you can show this kind of stuff in front of the D1 coaches, then I think you have a bright future ahead of you Smile
T.Lince04, with your dad's size and baseball history, you've got great potential.

Be prepared to get varying degrees of interest from college programs. Since you have not "arrived" physically yet, there will be some programs that show little to no interest because they believe they can't afford to wait for you to bulk up. For example, the following was said about Texas A&M Coach Rob Childress in an on-line article:

quote:
Childress agreed the 25 percent rule will change "everything" in regard to recruiting. He claims coaches now will be more hesitant to go after a player who might not immediately project as highly but could still develop into a prime-time talent.

Between junior and senior year, my son had a small program tell him that they would not be recruiting him because they could find prospects who were "bigger, stronger, and better." But a D1 was willing to look past his slight frame and saw his potential. It would behoove you to pay special attention to programs which are patient and which place a big emphasis on developing their players.

Let us know how things progress!
