Has anyone been through one of their events? Jr. Patriot has been invited to a final regional tryout at the cost of $200. I did a search to see if anyone had gone through this but all I got was, they think it's legit.

ABR is the scouting report for USSSA and is backed by them. Their 2009 events are more "tryouts" for younger players than showcases, although there will be ample opportunities before college coaches and scouts. The Regional Showcases are to locate 90 of the top players in the 14U, 15U, 16 and 18U ages to come to the USSSA All American Games in Kissimmee August 12-14. From the All American Games players will be chosen to represent the USA in international play in 2010 in the 16U and 18U ages. The 16U will travel to Japan. The 18U has yet to be determined, but are considering the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico as options.
It is a legitimate event and worthwhile.

Though teams may travel internationally, they are not representing the USA in international play. The right to put those teams together rests with USA Baseball, a right given by Congressional Charter.

You are correct and I should have worded the phrase differently. The team will be playing internationally as Team USSSA from the United States.
