I have been casualy lurking aroung this site for many years and never really had a reason to post anything. I would look at topics of interest and enjoy the comments and opinions. Now that my oldest son is a 2009 this year I have been mining this site for info. like crazy.
I must say, I have been surfing the web since the
14k modem and I have never seen a cyberplace so REAL. This place goes from the High (Eric's successful return to the mound after taking one to the face) to the Low (Shanes release recently) and the sad as well (bbscout's passing). This place has also given me a much better feel for the ups and downs of baseball that are headed my way. It all looks pretty rosy when your kid is a 12-15 yr old,
playing on top teams, yacken home runs, making plays etc...This place has truly given me a better perspective and I appreciate everyones unselfish time and contributions.
I will be seeking advice going forward, and I thank you in advance.

Deleted Question:will ask later

Tripledad,
Welcome.
I don't think bbscout would have minded at all.

I would suggest tournament play for the summer and concentrate on showcases next year. If these are high profile tournies he will get plenty of exposure. My sons first showcase was his junior year in january.
Tripledad,
Welcome to the High School Baseball Web. Be sure and ask your questions. That’s what makes the HSBBW work! There is no doubt in my mind that bbscout wants the HSBBW to continue on as it always has. Many years ago I was just like you looking for answers to all kinds of questions. The HSBBW was the place that provided those answers and bbscout was the resident “expert” on all the issues. He was a unique individual. He was in professional baseball, he had a son in professional baseball and he had another son that was making the transition from high school, to college, to pro ball. With all his knowledge and his willingness to take the time to share that knowledge set a high standard for the HSBBW. Eight or nine years have passed since I first stumbled on the HSBBW and I have seen the members’ knowledge increase dramatically over those years. So go ahead and ask your questions --- you will emerge a more knowledgeable baseball person and a real asset for your son and his baseball. Just remember that many of the answers you get today will be from those that have been taught by the best --- bbscout. Wink
