I think in part, this may reflect on the battle they had to sign Weaver. The word I've heard is that they intended to go after guys who were "signable" and in that regard, apparently certain of their picks were guys that apparently may not have the grades to go to a D-1 so the Angels are perhaps figuring these guys may be easier to sign, w/o the D-1 alternative as leverage.

Not certain if this is the "fact" just something I've heard about their strategy for this year. Curios if they selected anyone represented by Boras laugh

Or maybe they really feel they got the best available players. Their top pick, Trevor Bell, was once considered the best 14 year old in the country. He consistently hits 94, 95 with his fastball and has a major league curve according to scouting reports. He's also put up big offensive numbers, giving them the option of looking at him as a position player.

All that said, there's no doubt in my mind that not being represented by Boras made him even more attractive.
