Wow.........this guys is just - wow.  I will not be surprised at all to hear he has a heart attack, stroke or head explosion.

I will say this there does seem to be a lack of discipline on his players part.  While he does seem to make a mountain out of a mole hill he talked about guys not wearing the right belt in the game.  The way they talk back to him in some situations while he's ranting and raving is wrong.  But at the end of the day this dude is just wrong.  I agree with CoachB25 he's probably done as a coach.

This raises the question  of  how one finds out, before signing with a program like this, whether the coach is a dick or not.  Is this the sort of things that players can be expected to reveal to a potential recruit?   I'm worrying that it is not because the article implies that no players contacted had anything good to say about the coach and that  this sort of thing is the rule rather than the exception with him.   My worry is that  none of the older students saw fit to warn the younger students what kind of coach they were signing up with.   So how's a potential recruit to know?   I'm hoping that it's impossible for players to hide genuine unhappiness and discontent from a visiting potential signee.  Is that right?

SluggedDad - We went to many games, and I dropped in on some practices (incognito on business trips) in the Fall for about a half dozen schools he was seriously interested in.  Two schools in particular had "yellers".  Both were world-class schools, but my son crossed them off his list.  Previously, we'd met the coaches at unofficial visits on campus.  As you would expect, they were on their best behavior at that time.

We read everything we could on HSBBWeb as well as other websites.  We looked at the roster turn over rate (transfers, quitting,etc..) as well as injury rate for some of the teams.  I've had countless PM and Dialogs with others sharing their knowledge and experiences, and I've done the same with others asking the question about a particular program.  If you ask, people will typically tell you what you need to know in a private setting.   Ultimately, it is on the student and parent to do their due diligence.  JMO.

I've had a lot of experience with a lot of different coaches, and this is extremely abnormal from what I've encountered. I also, respectfully, have no clue how anyone could condone speaking to another person the way this coach speaks to the players on his (now former, thankfully) team. Beside the fact that it is utterly abusive, I can't fathom coming up with a rational explanation as to how someone may think this behavior would be beneficial for a group of people.

The anonymous accuser is hyperbolic and vendetta-driven, to say the least. The interesting thing is that he has just enough facts to make it seem that he knows something--he claims to be a family member of a former player, so I think he's constructed a story around rumor in the hopes that he can get it to stick. That being said, despite his motivations and my belief that he has no real evidence, there's plenty of smoke to set off the alarm.

That's some unreal stuff.  Agree there is plenty of smoke but why wouldn't accuser just go to the school with his lawyer with what he supposedly has?  Worse than soap opera.

This topic comes up semi regularly.  Every time since the first one I saw live with my son in 2010 I wondered how long it would be before the telephones starting popping out.  Seems the answer is 2014.  This is the third string of this type in the last 3 months.

Started with a coach in my area Tidewater VA (disciple of aforementioned 2010 incident) the guy in Cali and now this dude.

So here is the new world as explained in easy to understand language for the average D**k guilty of this stuff:  Act like a D**k and you will be shown to the world for the PERSON you are.

If that is too complicated for the slack jawed, maybe try this, would you talk to your parents, children or spouse this way?  If the answer is no (I hope it is) then why do you think it is okay to treat ANYONE that way?

You can run but you cannot hide.  Camera's and phone recording devices are everywhere.  Clean up your act or you will be next...tick...tick...tick....it is only a matter of time....BOOM there goes everything you worked for because you cannot resist screaming at some 14 to 22 year old to F himself over baseball.

This guy got the player in love with telling everyone he played D1and those that didn't look a gift horse in the mouth enough.  Parents please make your players do his homework before saying yes just to play D1.  My son turned down many D1 schools and the way the coach handled the call told us a lot about them.  We tell everyone we talk to about the good stories (really hate to hear it but if I can ever help you in any way please call) and the bad ( that's fine we where on the fence about you any way, that coach is terrible you will regret this, don't call me later changing your mind etc).  With just some research you could have saved many heart aches.
